The male was actually working hard on this particular day, doing some odd jobs in order to earn his keep. Even though the people who owned the home he currently lives had long since abandoned the town, he still needed money to buy the thingd that he needed to survive. Therefore he ended up doing various odds and ends in order to obtain such currency. Despite being a rather unsavory person, he still had an extremely good work ethic and always worked hard for what he wanted. That's what being independent was all about.
He had finally finished loading up the last of the heavy boxes of produce into the pickup truck, sweat rolling down his rather toned body. There was no shirt to be worn on this warm day, not when he was working so diligently. "That's the rest of this load, Mrs. Crowlen. The middle aged woman nodded and then drove off toward the local stores and homes throughout town in order to deliver the goods. As for himself, he still had lots of boxes of other produce to move.
Shirt wrapped around his waist, he continued to work. Moving box after box to the designated pick up spot, he was slowly being drained of energy.

Becky definitely felt like a new woman today. She felt so much more empowered. So much stronger. For weeks she had been feeling so strapped down in this town, unable to go anywhere or return to her own education. Unfortunately, she was stuck here and incapable of going back to college due to outside forces, whatever those forces may have been. In any case, she now carried with her, concealed in her purse, a 9mm handgun. She felt oddly powerful right now.
She had her purse slung right around her right shoulder as she made her way through the marketplace. It seemed people were busy with work, as always. She could see Dmitri just a bit up ahead getting some work done without his shirt on. His body was pretty tone, though that would be expected of someone doing that kind of work. Aside from his name though and the knowledge that he was the Sheriff's son, she didn't know much about him.

The teen wiped his forehead of the excess sweat with the back of his hand, though his chest glistened with same moisture. It wasn't that it was uncomfortably hot, but rather that he was working so damn hard. Even so, at least his body was in rather good shape. He'd have to keep it that way if he ever truly wanted to be in the army. It was that thought that gave him the strength to lift the next heavy box. Yes, he was no weakling. Unlike that foolish brother of his.
The teen looked over at the young woman who happened to be passing by, yet he wasn't acquainted with her. He knew who she was, simply because everyone in such a small town made it their business to know who people were. Becky Myers...yes, that was that chick's name. Not like it mattered. She'd never talk to a guy younger than herself. Girls never did. It was a shame too, considering she wasn't bad looking per se.
"Yo!" He'd call out to her, looking directly at her. "You're uh....Becky, right?"

Becky hadn't been planning to stop to talk to this boy, however with an enthusiastic "yo," she couldn't help other than to stop for him. She stopped in her tracks and waited for him to approach her... though she wondered what he could possibly want from her. After all, she had just really gotten back into town.
"Um... Hey," she greeted him kindly. She was already mulling over possible motives for why he'd stop her. The first and foremost was probably to ask for some water or something like that. She'd simply wave at him, looking quite confused as she did.
"Can I help you?"

The teen then walked over to Becky, stopping what he was doing completely. Though, it would be a nice break from the hard work he was doing. After all, moving around such heavy things took its toll on him despite his rather chiseled physique. Either way, once he was close enough to her, he spoke once more.
"Hey, you know if Vergil is in his shop? My revolver needs to be calibrated again." That was his question, nothing more and nothing less. Granted he was thinking more about Becky than what met the eyes, though his gun was the subject of this topic and nothing else. At least for the moment.
He reached out and pulled a small towel from his back pocket, wiping off the excess sweat from his chest and forehead. What a sweltering day...
"Shit, it's hot out today..."

Becky became a bit uncomfortable at the mention of her brother's shop. To think he'd ask her about that. Obviously, he must not have known the situation between she and her brother. The two of them hadn't gotten along for over a year now and Becky had barely been able to talk to him about anything without some kind of witty or silent response.
"Why would I know anything about him?" Becky asked rhetorically. She stood there still, though was really contemplating leaving now. He probably didn't have anything to say other than that if that was the reason he had stopped her, and there really wasn't anything she could do or say to help him with her brother.
However, he soon changed the subject to the heat outside. It really didn't feel so hot to her, but she could imagine how hot it would be to someone working outside like him.
"Would you like me to get you some water?"

"Whatever." The male would say, quite annoyed with the answer he had received. Actually, it somewhat pissed him off, although that's what he gets for asking a stranger a question. He should have known not to ask a female questions, they never knew anything. Hell, they barely knew their own names half of the time.
"Nah, I'm alright. I'm actually not that thirsty. But I suppose I could use a break." The teen would say, ignoring the rest of his duties for the moment. After all, talking to a girl was much more important than any silly work, even if it was allowing him to eat and live comfortably. Besides, this girl was supposed to be some college hot shot.
"So where do you go to school at again?"

"Right now, nowhere," Becky answered the question again. It was true. She was stuck in this godforsaken town and couldn't do anything to return home. It really sucked, but there was nothing she could do about it until the little ban or quarantine was lifted which prevented her from leaving.
"I'm stuck here because of whatever it is out there cutting off fuel supplies and killing people who try to leave," she said. She didn't know what it was, and wouldn't even try to postulate what it could be. It didn't matter, and the more she thought about it, the less likely she would be to try to leave anyway. She didn't want to scare herself.
"So... Yep... No where... unless you want to know where I'm supposed to be going to school."

The teen's hand met his face, burying his face into his palm. She seemed to lack the common sense to know that he didn't mean currently. However, he wouldn't address the young woman's stupidity for the moment, at least not yet. Either way, he simply listened to her like a good boy and didn't lash out at her. She'd have her turn, just not yet.
"I have common sense... I think I could have arrived at that conclusion on my own." He'd say with rather obvious sarcasm slid in there. She must be assuming he's some kind of stupid hick like his father or brother, yet he remained to be the intellectual of the family. Not that he ever put it to great use.
"But then I am just a small town hick, I don't think I could have ever figured that out on my own." Dmitri rolled his eyes, followed by a short sigh. "So which college is it?"

His attitude was a bit upsetting to her. She could easily hear the tone of sarcasm in his voice. It was obvious to tell that they had clashing personalities, but she wouldn't really say anything of it. She could get along with people pretty easily, even people who she clashed with. That was one of Becky's specialties and one of the reasons she didn't have many enemies.
"Arizona State," she answered his question, noting his little eye roll. It seemed to her that they had really conversed enough if he was getting tired of her. She couldn't help other than to wonder why he was staying her to talk to her, but reasoned that it was probably because he was just that bored on his break.
"Are you thinking of going to college too?"

"Arizona State...." He mumbled, slightly echoing Becky. Why would she go to such a boring place so far away? Not only that, there were much better schools than there on their side of the country. If anything, he kind of didn't think that she was all that smart if that's where she was going. Usually when people went out of state they went to interesting schools, yet something about a school placed in the middle of the desert didn't seem very appealing to him...at all.
"Sounds lame." He finally commented truthfully, ignoring what kind of feelings he may stir up inside the young woman.
"College?" The boy shrugged, knowing he couldn't just go to any old school. "It's always been my dream to go to West Point. And then from there, become a brilliant soldier. The only thing more dangerous than a jarhead is an educated jarhead." The boy pointed to his noggin, poking it a couple times. "Your mind is your most useful tool, after all."
From what his instructors were telling him back at school, he was well on his way on getting some good recommendations to go there.

"Oh, cool."
Becky was glad to hear that there were still some kids in this godforsaken town who still planned on going to university. That was good because Becky didn't feel as though any of the students in the school she was currently working at had much interest. They all seemed to prefer going to work with their parents after they got out of school.
"That's really good. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need any help with paperwork or colleges or anything, feel free to contact me," Becky said to him with a smile. She didn't mind putting such an offer on the table, and she would stick to it if he did contact her.
"It's been nice talking to you, Dmitri... but I should get going," she said. It wasn't like she really had anywhere to go, but she didn't really feel like standing around and talking to him all day when she could go home and relax.

"I might just take you up on that offer then." Not really to fill out paperwork or even for a recommendation, but merely to be with her alone somewhere. That kind of opportunity was priceless and could be manipulated to go any way he wished. That is, if he had the skill to do such, which he believed he did.
"Leaving me already?" He made puppy dog eyes, only for a moment before smiling slightly. There was no way he'd leave things just like that, not when he hadn't made a move. That would just be plain old boring and boring was something he wasn't. He was Dmitri muhfuckn' Evans, he was the epitome of interesting and flirtatious.
"You should come over for dinner at my place some time. Better than eating alone, right? All you have to do is bring dessert. I like fresh cherry pie. I could eat that all day." The offer was real, too real, as he was a rather decent cook.
"Nothing's better than a warm sweet cherry pie." He smiled innocently for a moment.

Dinner at his place? It seemed like a really nice offer, though the funny and sad truth was that Becky didn't cook or bake well, which very much went against tradition for females in Jamestown. Oh well, there really weren't any worries concerning this. She was a college student and had gone beyond for an education. Whether or not she could cook well hardly mattered, especially when she could buy or request a pie from the Smith Market or something.
"That's very nice of you, and I would, but I think that kind of offer is more suited for your guy friends," she'd smile at him followed by a wink. She didn't mind helping him, but she would have done it at a local place, or have invited him to her classroom. She wasn't going to go alone to the home of a fifteen year old boy.
"Besides, I don't cook very well," she winked at him. With that, she was ready to go on her way. She turned around and began to walk, now in the direction of her home.

"Cook for guy friends? I don't like guys, if that's what you're trying to imply. Whatever." He'd turn around and go back to working, there was nothing else to discuss since she was already leaving. It's not like she gave him much of a chance to reply either, therefore he'd go pack to his heavy lifting and enjoy the rest of his long ass day.
